The Director of Choral Programs is responsible for developing the vision, direction and supervision all choral activities and ensembles associated with the program. The Chorale program is a major focus of the University's cohort-based recruitment and retention efforts for co-curricular activities and as such is responsible for meeting a set of roster goals annually.

The Chorale Programs fall under the auspices of the Performing Arts Department within the Department of Student Life.

Responsibilities Include:

* Responsible for the artistic, administrative, and visionary leadership of the SHU choral program

* Conduct up to two choral ensembles.

* Foster and maintain a working relationship with the academic music department.

* Assume leadership role in the individual and collaborative recruitment of vocal students through building and maintaining productive relationships with public school choral programs, recruitment trips, ensemble tours, conference attendance/performance, and SHU Choir events.

* Interacting with the local arts community and supporting music educators in the region.

* The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the discipline through engagement in significant professional research/creative activities including maintaining regional, national and international visibility in performance, external masterclasses, conference presentations, services to the school/college/university/community, and mentoring students.

* The Director should demonstrate the ability to energize the university community to become engaged in a high level of choral singing, making it possible for the university to enjoy the benefits of a vibrant choral program. The successful candidate should also possess a demonstrated history of professional and/or academic choir building, with a corresponding track-record of concert programs with a diverse repertoire.

* Organize, plan, and execute Liturgical Choir masses in coordination with Campus Ministry, including all special events, such as Commencement, Baccalaureate Mass, etc.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

* A qualified candidate will possess a minimum Master's Level Degree in Music

* Demonstrated success in leading a university choral program. 3 years college teaching experience, graduate level and/or professional level experience, and a proven record of student successes preferred.

* Successful candidates must provide evidence of effective and measurable recruitment efforts as they relate to choral programs, e.g. professional relationships with music educators, multiple invitations to serve as clinician/guest conductor of honor choir festivals, hosting high school festivals and workshops, and invitations to serve as an adjudicator of high school performances.
