Description

The Sydney International Song Prize was created in 2017 to encourage the study and performance of Lieder and Art Song. Held annually as part of the Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Foundation “Festival of Opera and Song”, the competition focuses on the importance of the collaborative relationship between singer and pianist. In 2022 the SISP will be held in conjunction with the 2022 JSRB Bel Canto Award.

The competition will be held over two rounds - Heat (either live or via video link) and Final.

Eligibility

1. The 2022 SISP is open to all singers and pianists of all nationalities aged 18 - 40 as of 30 November 2022.

2. A singer and pianist duo must present a song recital to compete in the competition.

3. No one pianist may accompany more than two singers.

4. Duos cannot change prior to the Final should they be chosen.

5. If one of the duo is unable to perform then the other forfeits their place.

Live auditions will be held throughout Australia in August and September.

See website for repertoire requirements.

All entrants must complete an official Application Form and provide all the necessary documentation. One application form is all that is required for each duo.

ENTRANCE FEE - $50 paid through the application portal on the website.
