UAM is seeking an Assistant Professor of Music.

Summary of Job Duties:

• Primary duties consist of teaching 12 credit hours per semester at the undergraduate level. Primary teaching duties include the organization and direction of the Concert Choir and Chamber Choir.

• Additional teaching duties may include ear training and sight singing, pedagogy, applied voice, music theater workshop, and other courses as needed by the department and within the candidate’s area of expertise.

• Active recruitment is expected, which can include activities such as taking tours, hosting festivals, serving as adjudicator/clinician/guest conductor/guest soloist, and performing at conferences.

• The faculty member is expected to maintain a positive relationship with music educators in the region, including active participation in local, regional, state, and national music organizations.

• The faculty member will also be expected to work collaboratively with faculty and staff according to the needs of the program.

Qualifications:

A Master of Music degree in conducting, voice, or a related field is required. Candidates with demonstrable success recruiting and retaining students are preferred. An earned doctorate is preferred.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable expertise and experience as a conductor, soloist, and ensemble member.
