Indiana University is seeking Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Voice and Opera Studies).

We seek an effective and enthusiastic instructor of both undergraduate and graduate levels of applied music in voice and a creative and energetic opera program director. The successful candidate should have experience in teaching applied voice at the undergraduate and graduate levels and in developing and directing a collegial opera program for undergraduate and graduate students.

Additional teaching responsibilities will include diction for singers, a survey course on song repertoire, a course on vocal pedagogy, up to a 100% full-time, 12-credit load per semester.

Other responsibilities: demonstrated commitment to professional growth; develop and maintain a regional, national, and international profile within the profession; advise students; and other duties as assigned by the music department.

IU South Bend is the third largest campus in the Indiana University system and serves the north central Indiana community.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate (or equivalent) required

Active performer with a passion for teaching music courses at the college level

A commitment to working with students in a liberal arts setting

A successful record in both opera performance and opera production directing
