Newberry College

The Newberry College Department of Music invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track choral director at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2021. Preference will be given to applicants with music education experience, but applicants with a background in voice will also be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities: Provide leadership for the choral program by directing Newberry College Singers and Madrigals; teach choral conducting; lead annual regional choir tour. Additional teaching duties will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.

The successful candidate must demonstrate an eagerness to serve as a highly visible face of the Department of Music and Newberry College. Continued growth and excellence in the choral/vocal program will be an important measurement of success, as will maintaining strong ties to the local community and surrounding area.

Qualifications: DMA in Choral Conducting, or in a closely related field, or equivalent experience is preferred. ABD applicants may be considered.
