Description
The Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Opera and Program Director of Opera. We seek an inspiring and collaborative artist-educator with demonstrated excellence in opera stage direction and program leadership. Working closely with the Program Director of Classical Voice, the Program Director of Opera will provide curricular, artistic, and administrative leadership for the undergraduate and graduate opera programs, as well as the Professional Diploma in Opera.
This position has a faculty load of 4 + 4 (or a 24-credit load-hour equivalent), comprised of classroom teaching, stage directing, and administrative responsibilities across the academic year.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
* Master’s degree, or commensurate professional experience as a stage director for opera;
* Demonstrated experience as a director in the collegiate or young artist environment;
* Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to inspire and engage students, collaborate with faculty and guest artists, and contribute to the artistic and academic vision of the college;
* Strong musicianship, knowledge of operatic repertoire across various periods and styles, and the ability to effectively communicate artistic vision;
* A demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and engaging with diverse musical traditions and perspectives;
* Excellent organizational acumen.
