The Department of Music at Pacific Lutheran University invites applications for a non-tenure track, one-year position, Visiting Assistant Professor of Music – Choral, beginning September 1, 2022.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Conduct two of the department’s choral ensembles, including the University Chorale (SATB) and University Singers (SA).

Teach three sequential courses in choral conducting, and one rehearsal and repertoire course for Choral Music Education students.

In collaboration with the Director of Choral Activities, assist in sustaining, developing, and promoting the choral program, both on campus and off.

Actively recruit choral/vocal students and participate in department recruiting activities (e.g., department scholarship auditions).

Participate in College of Professional Studies and Department of Music faculty activities.

Other duties as assigned based upon the appointee’s strengths and department needs.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting or Music Education.

Demonstrated artistry and competence in choral rehearsal and performance.

Demonstrated competence in teaching courses in choral conducting, rehearsal, and repertoire.
