Description
St. Peter's University is seeking a Temporary Director of the Aedan C. McMullen Chorale at Saint Peter’s University.
The temporary Director of the Aedan C. McMullen Chorale will work with campus ministry and students to present a Spring concert in April 2022.
The temporary Director would work with campus ministry and students from January 2022 onwards. Their scope would include:
• planning the concert’s concept, music selections, staging, marketing, logistics, etc.;
• coordinating with Chorale officers for rehearsal schedules/attendance, distribution of sheet music, production and distribution of collaterals (posters, programs), tech needs;
• leading rehearsals (2X / week from February onwards, every day on concert week);
• providing singers with resources (eg., voice demos) and additional rehearsals (e.g., section rehearsals) to help learn music;
• recruiting and coordinating with additional musicians (ringers, featured singers, accompanist, instrumentalists), if appropriate;
• conducting the concert itself;
• recruiting a substitute for rehearsals when they are not available.
Qualification Standards
• Be committed to undergraduate education, and work collegially with others.
• Knowledge of traditional and contemporary choral literature. Christian music, liturgical practices, including other cultures as appropriate.
• Experience in chorale rehearsal techniques and conducting.
• The successful candidate will be a highly enthusiastic teacher and recruiter who will continue to develop an outstanding choral/performance program.
