COC Ensemble Studio- 2022/2023 Season.

ROUND 1: Video

Friday, August 13, 2021: Online applications open (application available at www.coc.ca/Ensemble)

Sunday, September 26, 2021: Deadline for video and application submission

You will be asked to submit the application form along with links to your videos, headshot, bio, and 3 references. Your references will need to send their letters directly to Ensemble@coc.ca before the Video Round submission deadline.

The video round will be adjudicated by COC Director of Artistic Planning, Roberto Mauro; Head Vocal Coach, Wendy Nielsen; and Head of the COC Ensemble Studio, Liz Upchurch.

ROUND 2: Live Auditions

Those advancing to the second round will be invited to live auditions in one of the following cities:

Toronto: November 1-4, 2021

Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver: Late November, dates forthcoming

The live round will be adjudicated by Director of Artistic Planning, Roberto Mauro and Head of the COC Ensemble Studio, Liz Upchurch.

ROUND 3: Toronto Finalist Callback

Late January/ Early February 2022 (dates forthcoming)

This year, the Ensemble Studio Competition will be replaced by closed callback auditions to be held on the mainstage of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, with piano. Those advancing to the third round will be invited to take part in two mandatory days of working sessions and rehearsals with COC artistic staff, preceding the on-stage callback audition.

The final round will be adjudicated by COC Music Director, Johannes Debus; COC General Director, Perryn Leech; Director of Artistic Planning, Roberto Mauro; Head Vocal Coach, Wendy Nielsen; and Head of the COC Ensemble Studio, Liz Upchurch.

Eligibility:

While there is no official age limit for consideration in the program, the COC Ensemble Studio is a young artist program and participants are generally between 20 – 30 years of age.

In order to be considered for this program, applicants MUST be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Citizens of other countries who do not possess either a Canadian passport or permanent resident card are not eligible to apply for the program.
