Description
LAKELAND UNIVERSITY, a liberal arts institution located in east central Wisconsin, seeks qualified candidates for the anticipated position of tenure-track Assistant Professor or non-tenure-track Instructor of Music, beginning in August 2022. This person will serve as Director of Choral Activities to lead and grow the choral program at Lakeland University. The successful candidate will inherit a strong choir and vocal music program with potential for continued growth at a university with a rich tradition in both choral and instrumental music. The candidate will have the opportunity to engage with a nationally recognized Graduate Music program that enjoys a coveted reputation for excellence in Kodály Music Education. The Graduate program recently added an Orff Schulwerk Level I program and has potential for continued expansion.
The successful candidate would have the option to teach within the Graduate Music program depending upon course availability and candidate interest and experience. Additionally, the candidate would have the option to work with Lakeland Music Camp in the summer which has a separate contract and stipend. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who apply by March 28, 2022. The position will remain posted until April 4, 2022.
The successful candidate will have an extensive background teaching general music in a K-12 setting and demonstrated experience leading choral ensembles. It is preferred that the candidate hold a Kodály certificate endorsed by the Organization for American Kodály Educators. Candidates who have not completed a Kodály Certificate at the time of employment will be expected to complete the Kodály Certification program at Lakeland University within five years. Willingness to sponsor student groups such as Muskie Tones A Cappella, Gospel Choir, or other music clubs is desirable. Applicants who are ABD or who hold an M.M. in Music or Music Education will be considered at the rank of instructor; a D.M.A. or Ph.D. in Music or Music Education is required for the rank of assistant professor.
