Colorado Mesa University is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Music - Voice.
The Assistant Professor of Music - Voice will be responsible for teaching applied voice lessons in classical, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial styles. This position will assist the Director of Vocal Studies to guide and inspire the voice area to prepare musicians for the 21st century.
The person in this position will also direct vocalists in the Commercial Ensemble, teach Diction, and organize the Experiential Learning Lab for performance majors. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; courses may be assigned as in-person, online, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities.
Scholarship in the discipline, advising, and service to the department, institution, and profession are required.
Required Qualifications:
* Completed doctoral degree in music
* Ability and desire to teach undergraduate voice lessons
* Demonstrated experience performing and teaching contemporary commercial music with appropriate technique and style
* Effective teaching, enthusiasm for working with and an ability to inspire undergraduate students, and effective communication skills
* Two years college teaching experience
* Experience teaching academic music courses at the college level, such as diction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Soprano or mezzo-soprano
