For the new production of the VBW musical REBECCA, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien is looking for outstanding German-speaking performers* (m/f/d) for the following positions:

ICH Playing age: 21; a young intelligent woman who develops from a shy, embarrassed girl into a self-confident person; positive charisma; romantic and sensitive; vocal range: strong pop soprano g - d''

MAXIM DE WINTER Playing age: 35-40; an English nobleman; wealthy and very self-confident, but internally torn; often sarcastic, with a dry sense of humor and a tendency toward ironic fatalism; easily loses his temper; vocal range: excellent baritenor A - a'

MRS. DANVERS Playing age: early 40s; the stern and self-deprecating housekeeper at Manderley; hides her feelings behind a stone mask; has psychic perceptions to the point of madness; fanatical and unbending; eccentric; sexually unfulfilled; vocal range: very strong Belt voice gb - g''

JACK FAVELL Playing age: 30-35; a handsome playboy and seducer of women; reckless to the point of lawlessness; a car salesman whose charms are momentarily irresistible but who cannot be trusted; vocal range: high baritone c - f'

FRANK CRAWLEY An English country gentleman; steward of Manderley and loyal friend of Maxim; dependable, kind, understanding, and loyal; voice range: baritone to f'

MRS. VAN HOPPER Character actress with strong stage presence and comic talent; an American widow who serves the stereotype of the uneducated but immensely wealthy American woman; vocal range: very strong belt voice g - e''

BEATRICE Maxim's older sister; a sympathetic, self-confident woman, with an assured knowledge of human nature; the type of good friend who goes through thick and thin for the people she likes; honest and straightforward; vocal range: pop mezzo-soprano ab - d''

BEN A mentally handicapped man with the mystical foresight of a medium; simple, childlike and frightened; vocal range: tenor c - b'

HEAD JULYAN Playing age: 40-45; a British county clerk, impressive personality; decisive; best manners; incorruptible; very strong actor; good singing voice preferred; vocal range: baritone

ENSEMBLE Outstanding musical performers* in all voice ranges, of different types and ages with very good acting skills and strong stage presence.

Very good German language skills are required of all applicants.

All performers must be able to move very well.
