Description
Washington College is seeking an Instructor, Voice and Piano.
A voice instructor with solid accompanying abilities in a variety of areas. This position is a half-time teaching position (instructor/lecturer level) that includes teaching voice lessons and accompanying duties as required. Additional performance opportunities may be available. This position will begin in January 2022.
Essential Functions:
Teaching voice lessons to students with a variety of backgrounds.
Accompanying the chorus.
Accompanying students as needed for performances and masterclasses.
Additional accompanying as needed by the department.
Additional classroom courses possible depending upon experience.
Qualifications (Education, Skills and Experience):
Terminal degree (or equivalent experience) in vocal performance or collaborative piano (with an extensive voice background).
Strong performance resume as a singer and/or vocalist.
Experience teaching voice lessons at the college level.
Ability to accompany voice students in performance.
Ability to accompany/coach a choir and/or musical theater cast.
Comfort singing a variety of styles including Classical, Musical Theater, Rock/Pop, and/or Jazz.
Comfort performing piano/accompanying in a variety of styles including those listed above.
Ability to teach in an additional field such as music technology/recording/production, music education, etc.
