The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Music Assistant Professor, Choral Music, College of Fine Arts [R0128630].

This position is for an Assistant Professor of Music, Choral Music. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment. Position begins August 1, 2022. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the following courses: University Chorale (a concert choir of music majors and non-majors), undergraduate choral conducting, undergraduate choral literature, and choral methods. Depending on experience, additional duties may include the supervision of secondary vocal student teachers in the Clark County School District (Las Vegas metropolitan area) and/or conducting an additional choral ensemble (symphony chorus or chamber choir).

The successful candidate will be required to pursue appropriate creative and scholarly work in the field of choral music and/or music education (ex. publication, composition, conference presentations, recordings, guest conducting/adjudication, etc.) and will work with the Director of Choral Studies, the Director of Orchestral Studies, and the faculties of the Divisions of Opera Theater and Voice Studies to present collaborative performances and to recruit undergraduate music education majors and non-music major choir members.

This position requires:

Terminal degree in choral conducting or choral music education (not elementary or instrumental). ABD candidates will be considered if they anticipate conferral of their terminal degree by August 2022. A minimum of five years combined classroom and ensemble teaching experience at the middle school, high school, or post-secondary levels.
