General Information
This class provides an introduction to a new generation of American art song composers with a focus on women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC composers as well as resources to find the sheet music and recordings used in this presentation.
Presenter
Baritone Robert Peavler serves as Professor of Voice at Eastern Michigan University and is the founder of North Star Music. He is the co-author of The Mèlodies of Francis Poulenc: A Study Guide (Scarecrow Press) and has a recording of American art songs, “From the Heartland” with Albany Records. He is an active clinician and adjudicator. At home, Dr. Peavler is a father to two amazing kids, a husband to an incredible singing, piano playing wife, and tries to keep the dog from constantly growling at sounds on the TV.
