Mezzo-soprano Abigail Nims has performed with orchestras including the San Francisco Symphony, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, São Paulo Symphony, Boston Baroque, Detroit Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Portland Baroque Orchestra, and Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Mexico, and with opera companies including Wexford Festival Opera, New York City Opera, Atlanta Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Omaha, Florentine Opera, and Virginia Opera. Her recordings include Boston Baroque’s Grammy nominated recording of Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, Mazzoli and Vavrek’s Proving Up with ICE, Peter Ash’s The Golden Ticket with Atlanta Opera, and Martin Bresnick’s song cycle “Falling” on Every Thing Must Go. An Associate Professor of Voice at the University of Colorado Boulder, Ms. Nims’ students have performed with Chicago Lyric Opera, LA Opera, Washington National Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Merola, Santa Fe Opera, Central City Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Utah Opera, and Virginia Opera and have received awards from the Richard Tucker Foundation, Laffont Competition, the Loren L. Zachary Competition, Lotte Lenya Competition, Joy in Singing, NY Oratorio Society Competition, and NATSAA.
