Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor: Classical Singer is an excellent magazine for the singer. It helped me understand the challenges of my family member during her studies.
—Lynda Sherer, Greenfield, Wis.

Dear Editor: Thank you so much for the article entitled “Where We Sing” [October 2008].

As a pianist and organist, normally I don’t read the magazine, but my wife is a singer and voice teacher and subscribes. In addition to our many other gigs, my wife and I are the directors of music for a large church in the Dallas area. We are currently going through a building program. Against the advice of all the professional musicians on staff the church has decided to build a “multipurpose room” in the facility. This “magical” room will host basketball, have a stage, and host concerts and worship outside of the sanctuary.

This trend towards boxy, acoustically ugly rooms isn’t only pervasive in the school systems, but in most churches as well.

Dear Editor: As a working professional, I find your articles useful and full of fresh perspective. As artists we need to remain informed with the hottest ideas and prepare for the next opportunity. I find that CS keeps its articles fresh and informative and is a good source for young singers eager to prepare for a future in opera. Thank you!
—Daniel Rodriguez, Staten Island, N.Y.

Dear Editor: CS is so awesome! Your High School Competition is a great motivator for my high school voice students. Thank you!
—Juliana Bishop Hoch, Loveland, Colo.

Dear Editor: Thank you for your cover and article about me in your unique and beautiful magazine [October 2008].

Marvelous writer David Wylie was so generous to me in his article describing my career in opera, musicals, TV, etc. He neglected to write about the most important part of my life: having my best friend, beautiful actress Joan Caulfield, introduce me to the handsomest, funniest, most adventurous man I was blessed to be married to for 54 years. He was the father of our four beautiful and handsome children, who [in turn] gave us two very loving and bright grandsons.

I have been given so much joy in my life. Thank you for helping me share it with your readers.
