Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor: Classical Singer magazine is so informative and helpful! As a young singer, I have learned many things about the business that I did not get a chance to learn in the classroom.
— Diana Stoic, Skokie, IL.

Dear Editor: The articles, especially the variety on singing through menopause, were excellent!
— Mary Kay McGarvey, Long Island, N.Y.

I’ll pass your comments on to the writers. Thank you. Our hope is that this information and the additional help at the Convention from Dr. Abitbol will enable the mature women to sing longer and better and will help teachers know how to deal with the changing, mature female voice! —Editor

Dear Editor: I love your vocal auditions and competition information. Also, the articles are very interesting in the magazine. However, if you put more information about music (vocal schools, such as grad schools), it’d be much better.
— Name Withheld, Wichita Falls, TX

Dear Editor: I have found the articles in Classical Singer to be professionally sound, pragmatically useful, and comprehensive in their ability to address the spectrum a singer needs! My very best wishes for your continued success in providing a “life vein” for all classical singers!
— Gloria Thurmond, East Orange, N.J.

Thanks for your kind wishes. —Editor

Dear Editor: Classical Singer magazine is the most useable resource in our business.
— Maestro Micaele Sparacino, Washington, D.C.

Dear Editor: Please make your announcements accurate of upcoming auditions. The April one for Portland Opera had been cancelled weeks ago.
— Name Withheld, Vancouver, WA.

Thank you for informing us about Portland Opera’s auditions. We contacted them as soon as we received your message and updated our database. We do try to keep the audition notices as accurate as possible – feedback from subscribers such as yourself helps a great deal. Please continue to keep us posted on the results of both your audition requests and your auditions. —Editor

Dear Editor: Classical Singer magazine instills the fact that there are many different ways of being “successful” in this business. Thank you!
— Robyn Frey-Monell, Long Beach, CA.

Dear Editor: We would like more articles oriented to established singers. The magazine seems to focus almost exclusively on emerging singers.
— Dana Peterson Springer, Scarsdale, N.Y.

In every issue the cover story is a very long interview with an established singer. The inside articles vary in their intended audience. We cater to a wide variety of career courses so, as with any magazine, it is up to you to read the articles that apply to you. Please feel free to e-mail any article suggestions you might have. —Editor

Dear Editor: I enjoy your publication, especially the spectrums on vocal technique and the book reviews.
— R.M. Steinberg MD, Lake Forest, CA.

Dear Editor: I use Classical Singer in my music appreciation class to show the non-classically oriented college student the impact great singers have and are having on music and culture. I use Classical Singer in my voice studio to help my students appreciate what a great profession they are aspiring to and to enhance the various topics taught in my studio; and I use Classical Singer to inspire and motivate me to continue to perform and just keep singing!! Thanks for such a great magazine!
— April Duvic, Amboy, WA

Dear Editor: I think this is a great magazine. I wish it had been around when I could have taken advantage of all its support and advice.
— Amber-Dawn Cusack, Jackson Heights, N.Y.

Dear Editor: Thank for your fantastic timing on articles I’ve needed right when they came to me in your wonderful magazine. As an active singer and voice teacher, even though I no longer sing opera myself, the news of the opera world keeps me motivated and helps steer my students. Articles on vocal health have been greatly encouraging, too. Keep it up!
— Kristin Morris, Indianapolis, IN.

Dear Editor: Keep up the great work! CJ, you are truly remarkable!!!
— Janet Bookspan, New York, N.Y.

Dear Editor: I love your magazine! I feel a part of a singer community because of you. Would it be possible to include either more articles or more advice for singers out of school, working another job, and trying to get a career going?
— Jillian Jones, Columbia, MD.

Dear Editor: You are the best trade magazine for singers out there! Bravo to you!!!
— Marjorie Kahn, New York, N.Y.
