A Diva’s Guide to Thriving this Holiday Season

Nov 14, 2025

The holidays always seem to arrive in a swirl of emotions, especially for artists. Amid the twinkling lights, gingerbread, and laughter-filled meals, often comes whispering aches of what comes next?

What if instead of rushing through the discomfort, we made this season a ritual? A reminder to pause, breathe, and reflect that even in the quiet, our artistry is always growing beneath the surface.

So, before the year slips away, here’s A Diva’s Guide to the Holiday Season:

Gratitude

Gratitude isn’t just something that appears when life starts to fall into place, it’s a practice

Try writing down one thing you’re thankful for at the end of each day; it can be as simple as finding a spot in a busy cafe, the warmth of your favorite sweater, or a laugh shared with a stranger in Trader Joes. Gratitude is a habit that grounds us in joy. It reminds us that even in the midst of the messiest hustles, there are always surprises working for you.

Trust

Something magical happens when we loosen our grip on expectations and allow ourselves to fully live within the space between what is and what is still becoming. You might not have all the answers this season, and that’s okay! Trust that your path is unfolding toward a bigger picture that you cannot yet see. Every opportunity, every closed door, every small “no” that stung: it’s all shaping you.  What feels uncertain now is often sacred groundwork for our next chapter. One day, you’ll look back and realize that this season was quietly guiding you exactly where you were meant to be.

Rest

Let the short days and crisp weather be a cue to slow down. Cozy up your space with candles, blankets, and something aromatic simmering on the stove. Remember that winter is nature’s way of restoring balance and preparing for growth. The ground, trees, and flowers don’t feel shame around resting, so neither should you!

And of course, this guide would not be complete without:

Dealing With Family Members Who Don’t “Get” It

The holidays often come with well-meaning relatives asking questions like, “So, what’s next?” or “What’s your backup plan?” or “When do we get to see you at the Met?”

Remember: their confusion isn’t your failure. You’re choosing a life that means you value deeper meaning over stability. That’s something to be proud of! When those questions inevitably arise, lead with curiosity instead of defense. Maybe try something like, “It’s a tough field, but I’m learning so much and building step by step—want to hear about a project I’m excited about?”

You’re not there to justify your art; but you can invite others into it. And, if they still don’t understand? That’s okay. You know why you’re doing this.

This season, give yourself the gift of presence. Be grateful for what is and trust what is coming. It’s going to be even more beautiful than you could ever imagine!
