Portland State University Scholarship Audition

PSU is now accepting applications for their 2019 Scholarships, both merit-based and need-based scholarships for incoming students.

Every applicant will receive a scored evaluation with written feedback from at least two university faculty members. Representatives of PSU will then select qualified student(s) of their choice for consideration for the scholarships.

Selected students will be invited to apply officially to PSU and submit the full audition materials by January 22, 2019.  

 

Audition Instructions

  1. Register for the Competition
    Register on CSmusic.net ($35 application fee) and submit your application. Every participant should have his or her own unique CS Music account on CSmusic.net. After you finish the competition registration your application will be saved to your CS Music account.

  2. Upload Your Selections to YouTube
    CS Music does not host your video files. You will need to upload those to YouTube. Record two selections based on the audition requirements below and upload them on Youtube.

  3. Link Your Selections to your Competition Application 
    Participants must link two selections. Make sure the selections are on separate clips. Find your competition application on your CS Music applications page and click the Edit Application link. Within your competition application, paste the URL of your YouTube selections.

    IMPORTANT: You need to make sure your video clips are made public on YouTube so they can be shared.

  4. Submit Your Application
    After you have finalized your selections, click "Submit this Application to be Reviewed" on your application. You cannot edit your application after you submit it. It will be sent out for review and you will be notified when the judges have finished their evaluations.

BS/BA Audition Requirements:

Perform from memory 2 works from the following list. These works should be of level 7 or higher in the 2015 Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus.

• A work by J.S. Bach, such a movement from a Suite

• A first movement of a sonata by Mozart, Haydn or Beethoven

• A piece or movement from the Romantic period, 20th century or 21st century

All major and minor scales and arpeggios, four octaves, hands together, MM at 60, four sixteenth-notes to a beat. Sight-reading of a short piece, the level of difficulty of which is levels 3-4 in the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus

BM Audition Requirements:

Perform from memory 2 works from the following list. These works should be of level 9 or higher in the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus.

• A work by J.S. Bach, such as a Prelude and Fugue, or a movement from a Suite or

Partita

• A first movement of a sonata by Mozart, Haydn, or Beethoven

• A piece or movement from the Romantic period, 20th century, or 21st century

All major and minor scales and arpeggios, four octaves, hands together, MM at 60, four sixteenth-notes to a beat. Sight-reading of a short piece, the level of difficulty of which is levels 5-6 in the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus.
