Malia, a prodigious 17-year-old classical singer, captivates audiences with her enchanting voice and undeniable talent. Born and raised in New Orleans, she discovered her passion for music at a young age. Currently, Malia is a junior at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) under the instruction of Phyllis Treigle and Mark-Anthony Thomas, as well as Patrick F. Taylor Academy, where she diligently hones her craft while excelling academically. Her dual enrollment reflects her commitment to both her artistic pursuits and her education. Most recently, Malia has won prestigious competitions such as the William Warfield Vocal Competition and NAACP Act-So Competition. Additionally, she has performed in the children’s chorus in New Orleans Opera Association’s productions of Tosca, La Boheme, Turandot, and Hansel and Gretel. Along with that, she has performed in a NOCCA opera as Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus and in NOCCA’s opera scenes as Alcina in Handel’s Alcina and Romilda in Handel’s Serse. Malia’s goal is to become an accomplished classical artist.
