Bio

Isabel Acosta is a Colombian mezzo-soprano, born in Bogotá. She graduated from the Conservatory of Music at the National University of Colombia and is currently a full-time chorister in the National Choir of Colombia, contributing to the country’s musical excellence.

Throughout her career, Isabel has trained with distinguished opera singers, including Colombian bass Valeriano Lanchas. She is currently refining her technique and artistic expression under the guidance of Camila Toro, focusing on vocal and interpretative development.

In recent months, Isabel has received important invitations recognizing her talent. In September, she was invited by the Banco de la República for a special audition for the Metropolitan Opera’s Young Artist Program in New York. Additionally, she was invited to audition for the 2025 season programming at both the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo and the Teatro Colón de Bogotá. Her vocal and artistic excellence also earned her a place as a semifinalist in the Linus Lerner International Competition with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra.

Isabel Acosta is emerging as one of Colombia’s most promising opera singers, standing out for her vocal technique, interpretative versatility, and dedication to the operatic art. With her talent and perseverance, she continues to establish herself on both national and international stages.
