Bio

My name is Kianna Healy. I am currently a senior at O'Gorman High School in Sioux Falls, SD. I have been passionate about music and performing as long as I can remember. My parents say I was singing before I could talk. I have been so very fortunate with many opportunities to pursue my passion. I began voice, piano, and dance lessons at a very young age, leading to musical theater. I have been able to compete and perform on many different platforms.

I became involved in musical theater at the age of 10, when performing in the "Little Mermaid" at the Sioux Empire Theater for a summer program. I then became an active member of Dakota Academy of Performing Arts, playing many supporting roles, as well several leads, such as "Sandy" in "Grease", "Jasmine" in "Aladdin", "Fern" in "Charlotte's Web". I transferred to my current High School due to their very active music and theater programs. I was able to perform in "42nd Street", "Buttons" in "Newsies", and was "Narrator" in "Joseph's Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". I was so honored to be chosen as a Hal Lenord semi-finalist and beyond estatic to be a finalist in the CS musical theater division May 2020.

I am a very active member in the band and vocal program at my high school.. I was honored to be a member of the All-State Honor choir as well as Regional Honor choirs, and the elite Chamber choir at our school, which performs at many local events. I have been a member of "Ovation" varsity show choir since my Freshman year, performing solos within the show, and choreographing routines for the middle school programs, and serve as dance captain. I have played piano, flute, mellophone, and bass clarinet, as well as serving as drum major, winning multiple awards for best field conducting in marching band competitions.

I have continued to work hard in academics as well, receiving third place in the state Science Fair, taking many AP classes, and was recently chosen for National Honor Society. I have been very proud to remain on the honor roll.

My school is very involved with volunteerism, which has taught me so many life lessons. I have really enjoyed working with kids with disabilities, fund raising for notable charities, and working with church activities.

All of my experiences have culminated to my current title of "Miss Sioux Land Outstanding Teen," with my platform entitled "Youth exploring music and motion." I feel very strongly on music and dance education available to all youth.
