Amelie Kaufman

Eighteen year old Amélie Kaufman has been hearing the story that she started studying music in her mother's womb her whole life. At the time the baby begins to hear in the womb, Amélie's mother, a director and opera singer, was directing Mozart's opera, Entführung aus dem serail. From birth, Amélie, has been right by her mother's side as she teaches her music lessons and directing shows at her music school, Young at Arts, a school that her mother founded to serve kids in need through the arts. When Amélie was 2, she began in the Music, Motion and Me class. Amélie loves all styles of music. She plays bass and sings in an all girl rock band, plays guitar and is a singer / songwriter. On stage, she has performed the roles: Toto in The Wiz, Aninku in Brundibar, Nancy in Oliver, Madame de la Grande Bouche in Beauty and the Beast, Sarah in Guys & Dolls, the Old Lady in Violet, Ma Strong in Urinetown, and Elsa in the Sound of Music. Amelie has studied voice since 5th grade with her mother, Sharyn Pirtle, speaks French fluently and is an 11th grade drama major at LaGuardia High School for Music & Art and the Performing Arts in Manhattan, NY. She loves to cook and makes fantastic croissants and macarons from scratch! She lives in NY with her parents, 3 dogs, Artemis, Rosey and Tuesday, and her cat, Moon.
