Bio

Frazan Adil Kotwal is a Indian-German baritone whose career combines artistic excellence with social engagement. Born in Mumbai, he began his journey with classical music while leading music projects for underprivileged children in the city’s slums. He later moved to Germany to study at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with distinction and received awards including the Fritz Wunderlich Prize.

Frazan is the first Indian in the history of opera to perform major roles such as the Count (Le Nozze di Figaro), Dr. Falke (Die Fledermaus), and Don Giovanni, etc. on professional stages. His Don Giovanni debut in 2025 was met with great critical and commercial success. He is currently mentored by Sir Simon Keenlyside, Catherine Foster and Jack LiVigni.

As a recitalist, Frazan sings regularly in cities like New York, London, and Vienna. He also serves as Second Chairperson of the Christel-Guthörle Foundation, supporting young musicians in Germany.
