Bio

Rising young soprano Madison Z Varriale resides in Pound Ridge, NY, and is a junior at John Jay High School in Cross River, NY. Madison greatly values and cherishes the ability to express herself and connect with others through music! She strives to become a professional classical singer who performs in operas, musicals, and concerts worldwide. Madison currently studies voice with Lesley Craigie and aims to continue her education and training at a music or performing arts conservatory when she graduates high school.

Madison showed her musical flare at a young age and started classical voice lessons with Amy Rood Miller at Creative Music Lessons when she was ten years old. She has participated as a soloist and collaborated in many concerts, musicals, and choirs at school and in her community. She has regularly performed roles with ACT of Connecticut’s Summer Teen Conservatory, including Rapunzel in “Into the Woods” and the Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” all directed by Daniel C. Levine and included musical direction from Bryan Perri. As a founding member and Head of the Music Division of her high school’s Belonging Equity Advocacy Taskforce, Madison proudly helped to orchestrate their first Community and Culture Day. In addition to organizing, she performed classical art songs to honor her multicultural heritage.

Over the past several years, Madison has participated in national and international singing competitions, where she has enjoyed great success. In 2021, as a First Prize Winner of the Golden Classical Music Awards, she was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. In 2022, she was the youngest finalist in Classical High School Division 1 at the Classical Singer Music Vocal Competition in Chicago, where she was awarded scholarships from Schmidt Vocal Arts and Interlochen Center for the Arts. Madison also won First Place and Most Promising Sophomore from the Schmidt Vocal Arts HS Regional Competition. In 2023, Madison won First Place in the L.H.S. Classical Treble Voice Category at the NATS Eastern Region Auditions and Second Place in the Richard Miller Classical Voice Competition. Most recently, Madison qualified to compete in the 2024 Schmidt Vocal Competition Nationals at the Sarasota Opera House.
