Soprano Madeleine Zuckerman is a third-year student at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, studying Voice & Opera Performance with Theresa Brancaccio. Most recently, she spent four months in Paris working with the French soprano Caroline Dumas at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris - Alfred Cortot. She was a finalist in both the Lower Division of the 2024 Schmidt Vocal Arts Undergraduate Awards and in the University Division of the 2023 Classical Singer Vocal Competition, a first place winner of the 2023 Chicago Chapter NATS Competition, and a third place winner for the 2022 NATS National Student Auditions, among other competition awards. At Northwestern University, Madeleine has sung the roles of Sofia in Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschino and Bubikopf in Viktor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis, and performed in the Midwestern Premiere of Christopher Cerrone's In a Grove, Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Così fan Tutte (Chorus), and Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel (Chorus). She has been a member of the Bienen Contemporary/Early Music Ensemble, a selective chamber choir, since the fall of 2023. Madeleine is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, where she studied voice with Laura Osgood Brown. All her gratitude goes to her family, mentors, and friends who have helped her along the way!
