Bio

Ava Wolesky is a 2021 Jimmy Award Finalist and represented the Starlight Blue Star Awards in Kansas City, Missouri.

Ava Wolesky is a first year theatre student at New York University’s Tisch School of The Arts. She is studying in the Stella Adler professional acting studio. Prior to college, Ava graduated from Liberty North High School. Ava has been performing in regional and educational theatre productions since she was eight years old. In 2020, Wolesky won the Starlight Blue Star Award for Best Actress in a Featured Role for her portrayal of Charlotte in Cinderella. In 2021, Wolesky won the Blue Star Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, and she went on to represent the Blue Star Awards at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (“Jimmys”), where she was a finalist. In 2022, Wolesky won the Blue Star Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Rosie in Mamma Mia! She also received a Blue Star Performance Scholarship. Receiving her third and fourth Blue Star recognition, Wolesky became the first student to win more than two Blue Stars.

In 2019, she appeared as Frieda in The Coterie Theatre’s production of A Charlie Brown Christmas, and in 2021, she appeared as the Foley Artist in The Coterie’s production of The Spongebob Musical. She has performed in leading roles in Gladstone Theatre in the Park’s productions of Seussical and Willy Wonka, as well as productions by CYT Kansas City and Corbin Theatre. During the pandemic, as live theatre opportunities have been limited, Wolesky has undertaken online master classes through Broadway Artists Alliance (BAA), The Coterie Theatre, and MN Acting Studios. Ava was also fortunate to play the role of Justine Case in the second-ever production of A Killer Party, produced by BAA. In addition to theatre, Ava is passionate about cooking, movie scores, and her three Siberian Huskies. If this whole theatre thing doesn’t work out, Ava believes she can still fulfill her kindergarten dream of racing dogsleds, notwithstanding obvious barriers, such as physical strength and geography.
