Viveka Saravanan is a sophomore at Northwestern University pursuing a double major in Voice & Opera Performance and Music Education with a minor in Arts Administration. A soprano, she studies voice under the expertise of Pamela Hinchman and has over 10 years of performance experience. Viveka has won several competitions including YoungArts, OC Register’s Artist of the Year, International Grande, Mount Saint Mary's University (MSMU) competition for solo voice, MTAC VOCE, Southern California Philharmonic Young Artist Concerto Competition, NATS Cal-Western, American Protégé, Vo-Cal, and Schmidt Vocal Competition. In addition, Viveka has also sung in masterclasses for world-renowned singers including mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, soprano Deborah Voigt, and soprano Cecilia Violetta López. Viveka was selected and attended Summer Intensive ArtsBridge: ArtSong, the Washington National Opera (WNO) Institute, Schmidt Vocal Intensive, and most recently La Musica Lirica. She has also served as co-program director of the Orange County School of the Arts’ CS Music Showcase Team since 2021 and was recently featured in the Fall 2022 issue of the Classical Singer magazine. She has also served as assistant conductor of the Orange County School of the Arts’ (OCSA) Concert Choir from 2023-2024. At Northwestern, Saravanan is a member of the Renaissance Singers, and the renowned South Asian acapella group Brown Sugar. Saravanan was a part of OCSA’s production of Die Fledermaus as Rosalinda, The Impresario as Madame Herz, and Northwestern University Opera Theater’s production of Die Fledermaus as Adele, Albert Herring as Cis, L’incoronazione di Poppea as Amore (cover), and La Musica Lirica’s production of L’elisir d’amore as Adina (cover).
