Bio

Described as beholding a “rich baritone voice,” and a “towering and alluring” stage presence, bass-baritone Christopher Humbert Jr. has proven a favorite with several audiences across the United States. Originally from Akron, Ohio, Mr. Humbert has appeared in multiple operatic and theatrical productions throughout in his home state. Some of which include: Opera Columbus, Mid-Ohio Opera, Nightingale Opera Theatre, in which he has been seen in The Consul (Secret Police Agent), The Mikado (Pooh-Bah), A Little Night Music (A Little Night Music), Dido and Aeneas (Aeneas), Kiss Me, Kate (Fred Graham), La Cenerentola (Alidoro). Christopher has since performed with The Seagle Festival, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, Annapolis Opera, Detroit Opera and Palm Beach Opera.

Humbert was selected to join Opera Theatre Saint Louis during the 2020 season as a Gerdine Young Artist. During this time, he was featured on St. Louis Missouri’s Channel Nine station for the inaugural “Songs for St. Louis” televised concert series. In addition to opera, Mr. Humbert is a frequent oratorio and concert soloist: Requiem (Mozart), Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott (Bach), St Matthew Passion (Schütz) Johannes-Passion (Bach), and Messiah (Händel). He has since returned to Carnegie Hall stage as a soloist with Manhattan Concert Productions’ in Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughan Williams, in which he shared the stage with ensembles from two of his former alma maters.

Humbert was a first place finalist it Opera Guild of Dayton’s Tri-State Vocal Competition (2019) and has frequently won classical music and musical theatre awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing. In 2021-2022, Humbert joins the Benenson Young Artist program at Palm Beach Opera under the baton of Anetolli Allemandi, and stars alongside J’Nai Bridges as Zuniga in Carmen. Humbert is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Opera Performance from Boston Conservatory, and is a graduate of the Capital University Conservatory of Music. He would like to thank his closest advisors and mentors for continuously being a source of support and wisdom throughout his career.
