Bio

Sydney Horan, 17, is a soprano from Wellington FL. She began singing at the age of ten, and is currently a student of Sonia Santiago. Sydney attends Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts as a Vocal Major.

She has attended Florida All-State for the past 6 years, being accepted into the Reading Choir her Sophomore year. She has also participated in the American Choral Directors Association at the regional and national level every year since 2015.

Sydney is a member of the Palm Beach Opera Studio, where she participates in a training program that fosters the skills high school students will need to pursue a successful music career in college and beyond.

She has been a member of the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, a non-profit community-based children’s choir for the past 7 years where she performs and mentors’ young singers. Sydney has auditioned and performed in the children’s chorus for the Palm Beach Opera. These experiences led to her love for Opera. She has performed in the children’s chorus for Turandot, Tosca, Carmen and La Boheme.

Sydney placed 1st in the Florida Gulf Coast NATS Competition, was a Finalist in the Schmidt Vocal Competition and the CS Singer Competition, a Semi-Finalist in the Hal Leonard Vocal Competition and placed 2nd in the Music International Grand Prix Competition. During a summer intensive at Florida State University she was a featured soloist in the Honors Choir Recital. She has also been a soloist for the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches performances on the mainstage at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Fl.

Most recently, Sydney attended an in-person two week intensive with Boston Conservatory at Berklee Vocal/Choral Intensive during the summer of 2021.

In addition to pursing voice, she is also a member of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, has been a youth volunteer for the March of Dimes since 2015 and enjoys reading in her free time.
