Bio

Jordan Yang transcends music genres with her luscious voice and proudly represents the Hmong community. She is a passionate performer with a history of musicals, operatic performances, and chamber ensembles. Alongside dedicating her time to honing her classical voice, she also enjoys collaborating with virtuosic musicians of different genres— most notably the Hmong rock band called X-pired and the University of the Pacific’s student-run popular music a cappella group Stocktones. Her most recent work was the role Polly in the University of the Pacific’s production of Kurt Weil’s Threepenny Opera.

Outside of collaborations and company performances, Jordan Yang is well loved as a soloist within the Hmong community in the California Valley. She enjoys performing for weddings, banquets, and as a guest singer for local concerts. Some of her memorable performances include the 2018 Hmong National Development Conference in San Jose and the Hmong rock band called Sounders’ 2019 concert in Fresno as an opener. Her most notable achievement as a solo artist is the release of her two singles, “Every Single Second” and “Selfish”, with the Los Angeles record label Indasoul in 2018.

Although Jordan is focused on an operatic path, her training extends far beyond that. She has had the opportunity to train with many astounding voice teachers of different musical backgrounds, such as Leslie Sandefur, Lady Kitty Griffin, Raquela from Voice with Raquela, and is now studying under the astounding Tenor, Daniel Ebbers, at the University of the Pacific. From these voice teachers, she has gathered the knowledge of techniques for pop, musical theater, rock, and classical singing since the age of 8. She looks forward to passing down this knowledge in the future to others who would like to grow their voices.
