Bio

Haley Tura is an undergraduate student at Youngstown State University pursuing a degree in Vocal Music Education, as well as a minor in Musical Theatre. Her experiences with education range from growing her own private voice studio to teaching classes in general music, dance, theater, and voice as a Teaching Artist at Students Motivated by the Arts in downtown Youngstown. Last spring, Haley had the opportunity to music direct the Youngstown Jewish Community Center’s production of Willy Wonka Kids. She also received a certificate in voice health and functional training studying under Dr. Matthew Edwards and Marci Rosenberg at Shenandoah University’s 2021 CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute.

In addition to teaching, Haley works hard to hone her craft as a performer. She has performed lead roles in musicals at the university level; some of her credits include The Music Man (Marian), Into the Woods (Cinderella), and Elegies: A Song Cycle (Soloist). Haley recently created and performed her own cabaret show titled, "Goldies but Goodies: An Evening of Jazz and Musical Theater from the Golden Age," showcasing beloved music from musicals like West Side Story, Carousel, and Anything Goes. She has also competed in national voice competitions (2020 Hal Leonard Vocal Competition, semifinalist), attended conventions (2020 CS Music Convention), and received feedback from industry professionals across the country.

Upon graduation from Youngstown State University, Haley hopes to attend graduate school for Vocal Pedagogy and maintain a private studio and performance career.
