Bio

Julia Anne Cohen is a New York based singer, actor, songwriter, and teaching artist. Her passion for different styles of music has shaped her unique and powerful voice in many genres of music. Currently she is pursuing her Master's in Musical Theatre and with a Vocal Pedagogy Certificate at NYU Steinhardt. This past May she graduated as a Presidential Distinction Scholar and Chadwick Medal Recipient at New England Conservatory studying Vocal Performance with an Acting minor, and a Music in Education Concentration. Julia is a community arts leader and has won three grants for her women composer series Hear Us! as well as holding the title of Executive Director of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Nova with the mission of sharing multi-media arts performances in non-traditional venues.

Singing highlights include performances with the New York Lyric Opera Summer Festival at The National Opera Center and Carnegie Hall, vocal resident with the College Light Opera Company, as well as being an NPR From the Top Finalist. This past year she made her Kennedy Center debut in the world premier of Chandrika Tandon’s Shivoham – The Quest, and her Lincoln Center debut in the lead role in The Girls of Atomic City.
