Landen Kessler, a tenor from Santa Fe, New Mexico, is known for his extreme versatility and emerging vocal style; he is recognized for his strong performances across genres, including opera, concert, and choral repertoire. Landen has been a member of the Santa Fe Opera’s Young Voices program for four years (2022-2026) and was one of the youngest members in history to join as the program started to reach out to youth. Landen has accepted and performed a wide range of leading roles during his Young Voices tenure in scene showcases, including Tito (Lend Me a Tenor), Candide (Candide), Mario (Il Postino), Jack (Into the Woods), and Frederic (The Pirates of Penzance), with another principal role TBA in 2026. He has also been a featured soloist in the Opera’s annual Italian Night concerts for three years (2022, 2023, and 2026).
In 2023, Landen made his Carnegie Hall debut as a choral member in Mid-America Productions’ performance of Vivaldi’s Magnificat. He has since performed as a soloist with the Santa Fe Symphony in Illuminare (2025) and was recognized as one of the “most expressive choral singers” in the Santa Fe Symphony’s performance of Handel's Messiah in 2024. Landen has also been in the Santa Fe Symphony’s major productions of Handel’s Messiah (2023, 2024, 2025), Berlioz’s Damnation of Faust (2025), and Orff’s Carmina Burana (2026). As a Santa Fe Symphony Choral Scholar (2023-2026), he has established himself not only as a chorus member but also as a developing young singer in the Santa Fe community.
Landen's vocal technique and style have been awarded many recognitions, including the Das Lied: Barbara & Keith Baltz Family Award at the Vocal Artistry Art Song Festival of New Mexico (2024), the CS Music All-State Award (2025), where he also ranked nationally in the top 20 all-state award scores, and four consecutive NMMEA Solo and Ensemble Competition wins (2022-2025). Landen has consistently demonstrated choral excellence within New Mexico as a six-time New Mexico All-State choir honoree and featured soloist. Landen continues to perfect his craft through different elite educational/training programs, some of which include Berklee Aspire (2024) and Lamont Summer Academy (2025), where he was selected to perform in a masterclass for the head voice chair of DU and for the prestigious Solo Honors Performance series, singing "Automne" by Gabriel Faure and "Les Chemins De L'amour" by Francis Poulenc.
