Bio

Alexandra (Sasha) Galyavina is a classical voice student of Dorothy Jean Lloyd at the Music Institute of Chicago. She has been taking private voice lessons since elementary school and has developed a deep love for classical music and performance. Known for her strong musical opinions and clear artistic voice, Sasha’s current favorite role is Papagena in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, which allows her to explore playful character work and vocal agility.

She is currently focused on refining her musical diction and enjoys singing in English, Italian, and Russian. Passionate about both the technical and emotional sides of singing, Sasha chooses music that challenges her technique and interpretation. In addition to voice, she also plays piano and flute.

In 2025, Sasha expanded her understanding of opera beyond singing by working as stage manager for a local production of Carmen. In this role, she was responsible for coordinating over 20 cast and crew members, managing backstage logistics, and helping the team run rehearsals and performances smoothly and on schedule.

When she’s not in music class, you can usually find her catching up on physics or geometry homework, heading to rowing practice, or laughing with friends at the nearby Starbucks.
