Bio

President/CEO of Go-DIVA! Productions, Inc. and professional vocalist, Jennifer Cooper, offers a unique, deeply varied repertoire of entertainment, blurring the boundaries of genres and styles. Before taking the stage as a jazz, blues and pop songstress, Cooper sustained a successful, professional opera career yielding rave reviews for more than thirty principle roles and various concert appearances throughout Europe, Canada and the U.S., and accumulated coveted top prizes in competitions including the Metropolitan Opera National Council, National Symphony Orchestra Young Artists, among others. Other guest soloist spots include; the River Concert Series with the Chesapeake Orchestra led by Jeffery Silberschlag; “Come to the Cabaret” with the Rappahannock Pops Orchestra, directed by her former music teacher and mentor, Kirk Wilke; several appearances with the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society led by Michael Santana, as well as frequent performances at the First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach (FL) concert series.

Cooper and her current ensemble, GrooveSpan, remain in high demand for numerous venues, music festivals, concert series, and private events. The group - a collective of established professional musicians - offers Duo, Trio, and 5-piece ensemble options covering mostly jazz, blues, folk, classic rock, motown, etc. Cooper co-founded the band in 2010 and serves as manager and lead vocalist.

Cooper has created, produced and starred in several original music productions, including her one-woman, auto-biographical musical cabaret, “Go-DIVA! ~ of Song, Silence & the Abuse of Chocolate” (written by LB Hamilton), “Velvet Nights” (international cabaret), and “Only Yesterday” (Carpenters tribute). Her popular showcase series, “Opera Night” and “Broadway Night” consistently played to sold-out audiences in the southern Maryland region while her highly acclaimed “Sentimental Journey” (WWII era tribute) presentation continues to tour the east coast.

It was her original fundraiser production of “Go-DIVA! Act III: The Swan Takes Flight” (sequel to the original “Go-DIVA!” also written by LB Hamilton) that sparked her relationship with Southern Maryland Youth Orchestra & Choir and raised $5,800 for the organization. Cooper is a passionate advocate for youth music programming and education, citing her years of childhood flute and piano study, and positions as high school marching band drum major, principle flautist in symphonic band, and lead actor/singer in school and community musicals, as the catalysts for her successful career in music, and the best possible training for her achievements in business management, producing, directing, teaching, and owning her own company.

Her four-year stint as the sole voice instructor at EMU (Harrisonburg, VA) provided opportunities for new course development - Musical Theater and Opera Scenes classes which she created and led to high acclaim – plus positions as Music Director and Conductor for major musical productions and choral ensembles. She currently serves as a highly respected private voice instructor of the Cooper Voice Studio and faculty member of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Music Department. Cooper is frequently invited by other campuses and music organizations to serve as an expert vocal technique master class and workshop technician. As president and CEO of Go-DIVA! Productions, Inc. (a live music presenter company), Cooper strives to provide exceptional quality entertainment, spanning four centuries of genres and styles, while continuing to educate, inspire, and support the next generation of creative artists.
