Margaret King, soprano, recently portrayed the role of Kim McAfee in Saint John High School's fall production of Bye, Bye Birdie. She has been an ensemble member in the musicals All Shook Up and Once Upon A Mattress and was a nun in The Sound of Music. Maggie has been a Dance Captain and member of several dance troupes in addition to her ensemble work portraying characters such as Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, and Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast. As a young singer, Maggie sang with the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Children's Choir performing such works as Puccini's Suor Angelica and La boheme, Mahler's Symphony #3, Duruflé's Requiem, and Burton's The Lost Words at Symphony Hall and at Tanglewood. She has also performed several times for the Holiday Pops concerts with Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops Orchestra. Last summer, Maggie attended the Boston Conservatory Summer Vocal-Choral Intensive and competed and placed at the North American National Irish Step-Dancing Championships in Montreal, Canada. Maggie is currently a member of The New England Conservatory Youth Chorale and the Wachusett Singers, a select choir at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, MA. She continues to represent her high school as a member of the Central MA Senior District Festival Chorus and Massachusetts All-State Chorus. Maggie continues to compete at the Open Championship level as an Irish dancer and is a voice student of soprano Jane Shivick.
