Trinidad-born and now U.S. based, tenor Raguel Gabriel is at home on stage whether singing musical theatre, classical or acting. Musical theatre roles performed include Tony in West Side Story, Marius in Les Miserables and Prince Eric in Disney's The Little Mermaid. His classical roles include Hoffmann in Tales of Hoffmann (Offenbach), Tamino in The Magic Flute (Mozart), Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), and The Impresario in The Impresario (Mozart), among others. He recently sang Schubert’s entire Schwanengesang in recital (2021) at the prestigious Merkin Hall in New York City. A classically trained actor, his performances include the title role in Othello and Antonio in The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare. Raguel studied voice for many years at the Key Academy of Music (Trinidad) with June Nathaniel before moving to New York City where he continued with Dagmar Apel, Neil Semer at The Neil Semer Vocal Institute and works continually with voice coach Jeffrey Middleton at Westbeth. He is a graduate of The Stella Adler Studio of Acting NYC and has also studied at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He looks forward to returning to the music of Schubert and the American Songbook repertoire in recitals planned for the near future.
