Bio

Mezzo-soprano Lucy Altus is a native New Yorker and is now a senior studying vocal performance at Carnegie Mellon University. Always singing as a child, she began singing classical voice at the age of 13 when she joined the National Children’s Chorus and grew to be one of their top soloists. During her time with the National Children’s Chorus, Lucy performed solos at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and at Carnegie Hall. With the chorus she has also traveled and performed throughout Europe and Asia, including Vatican City in Rome, the Great Wall of China in Beijing, the DMZ in Seoul, South Korea, and the Musikverein in Vienna. Currently, at Carnegie Mellon she studies with the renowned soprano Maria Spacagna. She was most recently heard as a soloist in Handel’s Messiah as well as Sesto in Sartorio’s Giulio Cesare. This season at Carnegie Mellon she will be playing Ramiro in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera.
