Dana Rice Guidroz

Soprano, Dana Rice Guidroz, holds vocal performance degrees from Baylor University, The Florida State University, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance and pedagogy from The University of Southern Mississippi. She has distinguished herself on the concert, music theatre and operatic stage alike. Dana's extensive solo appearances in concert and recital include guest artist recitals throughout the southeastern United States. She was named state and regional winner of the NATSAA Young Artist Competition in 2002, and has been a previous state winner and regional finalist of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the MTNA Young Artist Competition. She also received the Verdi Award at the Orpheus Competition and was named a finalist at the Suncoast Opera Competition.

Dr. Guidroz has sung leading operatic roles with numerous opera companies as well and has a wealth of experience in music theatre. Dr. Guidroz moved to Houston in 2019 and is currently teaching voice in a private studio, as well as serving as an accompanist and vocal coach for area colleges and schools. From 2008-2019, she taught voice and music-related classes in Mandeville, LA for the talented music program, which served high school students who demonstrated exceptional ability in music. Prior to 2008, she lived in Clinton, MS where she served as Associate Professor of Voice and Opera. During her tenure there, she was presented the inaugural Pittman Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award in recognition of her accomplishment and potential as a teacher, scholar, and performer. Dr. Guidroz has more than 25 years of voice teaching experience. Students of Dr. Guidroz have been highly successful in competition, performance and graduate study. Students of Dr. Guidroz are successful performers, studying in highly acclaimed graduate programs throughout the country, receiving significant assistantships and scholarships, and performing with professional companies.
