Jose Hernandez, Tenor trained with Joseph Evans at the University of Houston where he completed a Master of Music in Voice. Mr. Hernandez is currently a Maria Manetti Mentor for ArtSmart the non-profit music education program founded by Michael Fabiano and John Viscardi that connects professional musicians with high school music students for weekly lessons and mentorship. Professional opera performance credits include San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony, Opera San Jose, and New Orleans Opera to name a few. Known for his comedic portrayal of character roles in opera and musical theater, he is now transitioning to the fuller voiced tenor roles in works by Puccini, Verdi, Wagner, and the like. Mr. Hernandez will train with New York Dramatic Voices this Summer 2021 studying the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini's "Tosca."
