Inna Kovtun is one of Ukraine’s leading ethno-singers, a Master of Music and Folklore, and a globally recognized ambassador of Ukrainian traditional culture. Born in the Sumy region, she completed music school in piano and classical vocal training. At 15, she moved to Kharkiv to study at the Higher Music College of Culture and Arts, where she began her work as a folklorist, collecting traditional songs and preserving Ukrainian musical heritage.
She continued her studies at the National University of Culture and Arts in Kyiv, where she built her professional career. Inna served as Artistic Director of the state academic ensemble “Kalyna”, leading 100+ professional artists, and was vocalist and Artistic Director of “Rozhanytsia”, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Academic Municipal Wind Orchestra, and soloist in international projects Astarta and EDK.
She has performed and taught in 20+ countries worldwide. Now in Portland, Oregon, she founded the theater “I ❤️ Ukraine”, leads the children’s ethno-ensemble Singing Dawn / Blue-Yellow, is on the Oregon Folklife Network, a Taproot Artist Fellow 2025, a prestigious recognition awarded to outstanding traditional artists, and a Qualified Mental Health Professional at D.A.W.N., supporting Ukraine through culture, mental health, and wellness initiatives. She continues to perform and lead workshops across the United States, bringing Ukrainian traditional music and culture to diverse audiences nationwide.
Inna Kovtun continues to bridge tradition and modernity, ensuring Ukrainian song and folklore resonate with global audiences.
