Marudhini Murugaverl is a freshman at Vanderbilt University, and loves music and participates in different aspects of music, including singing classically, playing alto saxophone in a school band for 7 years in first seat, learning music theory, and playing the piano. She also joined a choral group outside of school, Metropolitan Youth Orchestra’s Nassau Chamber Chorale, and was the soloist for the winter concerts.
Marudhini is currently working with Professor Amy Jarman, but in the past she worked with Professor Tammy Hensrud from Hofstra University, and she has greatly improved her voice from her teachers' wondrous teachings. She also gained experience being on stage while also making musician friends by participating in the Queens Summer Vocal Institute, where she had the honor to do masterclasses with Dr. Sherry Overholt. She had the chance to attend the Oyster Bay Music Festival, and performed multiple times with college-level singers for the community.
Additionally, other than singing, Marudhini has been working with children and teaching music to elementary school students in high school. She went to the local elementary school every other day to work with the general music teacher’s classroom, and she helped guide students on different levels of rhythm and note-reading and plays music together.
She is an inquisitive learner who dives deeply into material and has accrued a mental flexibility to understand music from multiple perspectives who hopes to further her education in music.
