Bio

Paola Gonzalez, soprano, originally from Morelia, Michoacán, México, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Anderson University (SC), where she studies with Deirdre Welborn. A rising sophomore, she has participated in notable training programs, including the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia, where she covered the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni and worked with faculty from Curtis and AVA. She also took part in the Hybrid Opera Laboratory in Jalisco, performing for Operalia first-place winner María Katzarava. Paola competed in NATS in both classical and musical theatre categories, advancing to the regional level. Last year, she appeared as a featured soloist in her university’s Masterworks concert, and this fall, she will perform in the university’s production of Puccini’s Suor Angelica. Fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in German, she is passionate about preserving the bel canto tradition and aspires to an international operatic career.
