Bio

Siobhan McNulty (she/her) is an American Soprano known for her versatile, expressive voice and dynamic stage presence. She employs her wide vocal and emotional range as a performer of Opera, Operetta, Art Song, Pop Music and Musical Theatre.

Born to two accountants, Siobhan’s path to the performing arts was an unexpected yet deeply fulfilling journey. Her early affinity for storytelling and community outreach can be traced back to her middle school years, during which she founded her school’s newspaper and organized several larger scale charity events with her Girl Scout Troop. These passions continued as she balanced her life in the theatre with her life as a Pre-Law Student at her Magnet High School, Jones College Prep. In her senior year, her law training would culminate in an internship with Catholic Charities Legal Services, where she would help attorneys provide service to underserved communities. Siobhan’s early exposure to diverse life stories profoundly influenced her artistic expression. Siobhan’s personal experience as a neurodivergent woman and lifelong volunteer work at Misericordia Heart of Mercy has also fueled her desire to uplift disability representation in the arts. She believes all stories are worth telling, boldly and unapologetically.

Siobhan is currently earning her Bachelor’s in Musical Theatre and Acting from North Central College, where she has performed as a chorister and soloist in a plethora of concerts, theatre and opera productions. She has been a part of three Opera Workshop productions, directed by Jennifer L. Barrett. Siobhan has sung scenes from Act I of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte as Fiordiligi, Act II of Strauss’ Die Fledermaus as Adele, and the complete role of Madame Goldentrill in Mozart’s The Impresario, she also covered Mabel in scenes from The Pirates of Penzance.

Siobhan McNulty made her international debut in 2023 as Mercury in Orpheus in the Underworld with Berlin Opera Academy, under the baton of Dominic Wheeler. She also sang “Mein Herr Marquis” from Die Fledermaus for an audience in Berlin. The next summer, Siobhan debuted as Taumännchen in Hänsel und Gretel, directed by Samuel Mungo and conducted by Gregory Buchalter produced by Varna International Music Academy. Siobhan spent a whole month traveling South Carolina as part of VIMA’s Muzika! Festival. In this time, she was a chorister in Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, conducted by Gregory Buchalter. She was also a soloist in the Broadway Revue, performing Jeanine Tesori’s “The Girl in 14G” and Dolly Parton’s “Get Out and Stay Out” and the Serenata Italiana, where she sang “Ebben? Ne andro lontana!” from La Wally.

Siobhan was even asked back this June by VIMA to perform the role of Vicki in A Grand Night for Singing and cover the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus. She is also slated to be a soloist in the orchestral concert From Stage to Screen, singing selections as Chava from Fiddler on the Roof and Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables. She is very excited to sing again for this wonderful organization.

As Siobhan’s skills and credentials in the opera world have grown, she has also kept herself active in Musical Theatre, Siobhan is a performer known for her razor-sharp comedic timing, emotional intensity and ease flipping between genres: from rock beltress, to soprano ingenue and everything in between. Favorite roles include Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Martha in Heathers the Musical, and A Voice in Next to Normal. A highlight of her career thus far has been playing the conniving Factory Girl in Les Miserables in Concert in Vicenza, Italy, directed by David Fiorello.

Siobhan is most proud to have been part of the debut of Landree Fleming’s revolutionary production of Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins. Siobhan played Sara Jane Moore amongst an All-Treble Voiced cast conducted by Ellie Kahn. Placing Assassins in a post-social media world completely changed the perception of what this piece can be, and Siobhan is so grateful to have been a part of telling this story, getting to deftly handle some of Sondheim’s most challenging music.

Siobhan also has extensive experience behind the scenes, having designed hair and makeup for several productions, such as the world premiere play, this is not the reunion, and Opera Workshop performances Once Upon an Opera and The Impresario }{ At the Audition. She also served as dramaturg on Impresario. Siobhan has taken a plethora of classes in scenic and costume design, choreography, directing and vocal pedagogy. Her large range of expertise has driven her to work on many kinds of projects in various capacities.

In her free time, Siobhan is always engaging in one of her many hobbies. Siobhan has been sailing her entire life, and throughout the years also came to love kayaking, snorkeling, swimming and scuba diving. She loves to travel. Siobhan is excited for all of the adventures that lie ahead in her career and personal life.
