Bio

Grace Brega is a promising young soprano and teacher based in Baltimore, Maryland. Most recently, she performed with Shakespeare Opera Theater in the role of Mother in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Other recent operatic credits include Mary Crawford in Dove’s Mansfield Park, Clorinda (And Tisbe!) in La Cenerentola, La pastourelle and La chatte in L’enfant et les sortilèges, Suor Dolcina in Suor Angelica, the Stepmother in Into the Woods, and Lady Billows in Albert Herring. She's also established in the concert and oratorio scene, this past season having performed with the Nashville Symphony as a soprano soloist on Barnett's The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass and soprano solo cover on Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Last year she found great success with her recital "Sacred then; Sacred now" at Church of the Resurrection , which raised over $3k. Outside of performance, Grace has a private voice studio, where she teaches young and maturing singers not only classical repertoire, but how to use classical techniques of healthy vocal production in any style. She is also a well consistent church musician, currently on staff at Old St Paul's Episcopal church in Baltimore. Check the ‘Upcoming’ tab for the latest on her recitals and performances.

Grace has recently been named a finalist in the Marker and Pioneer International Music Competition. In 2020, she won the MTNA Tennessee Young Artist Performance Competition, and went on to win the alternate at the Southern regional competition. She has also had the honor of receiving the Julius and Magda Lachs award for her role of Lady Billows.

Grace has her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. During her time at Blair, Grace studied under Dr Gayle Shay and Jennifer McGuire. She participated in full mainstages as well as scenes programs with the Vanderbilt Opera Theatre, many of the Vanderbilt University Choirs, as well as student-produced organizations such as Vanderbilt Off-Broadway. She spent her summers working with well regarded summer festivals such as the Festivale Lyrique-en-Mer and OperaLucca as a young artist. She has participated in a wealth of masterclasses with master teachers and performers such as Mariella Devia, Sidney Outlaw, Reggie Mobley, Michael Pinkerton, Natalya Romaniw, and Jeffrey Springer. Grace is currently participating in a vocal pedagogy course through the New England Conservatory. She looks forward to her upcoming audition season for entry to Master's programs across NY and MD.
