Sofia is a 19 year old soprano, originally from Madison, Wisconsin. She is currently in her second year of vocal performance study at DePaul University in Chicago, where she has the privilege of studying under Professor Jeff Ray. This April, she won first place in both the Schubert Club, Bruce P. Carlson Student Scholarship Competition, and the Chicago Chapter NATS, Classical division. Sofia recently performed as Gherardina and a Chorus Nun in her university’s production of Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica respectively. This summer, she will be performing as Barbarina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and covering Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel with SOO Opera in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. As an avid lover of the French language and of animals; Sofia spends her free time serving as an officer with the DePaul French Club, and volunteering at PAWS animal shelter.
