Donovan Russell

Donovan Russell is a 2025 CS Vocal Competition Semifinalist and Scholarship Recipient. Donovan is a senior at Woodlands High School in New York. He has performed with the Play Group Theater, Helen Hayes Youth Theater, Yorktown Stage and will be performing this January with Artistree Performing Arts in their production of RENT. Donovan received a 2025 Metro Award nomination for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Male-identified Role for his portrait of Ren McCormick in Footloose. Other significant roles include Henry Jekyll / Edward Hyde in Jekyll & Hyde; Roger Davis in RENT, Jack Kelly in Newsies and Mischa Bachinski in Ride the Cyclone. Donovan is an arts advocate and leader within the music program at his high school. He currently serves as the President of the Drama Club and participates as a multi-instrumentalist in the concert, marching, and jazz bands. Outside of school, Donovan was a member of the House Band for the White Plains School of Rock for five years, performing primarily as the lead vocalist while also playing piano, guitar, and bass. The White Plains SOR House Band headlined fundraisers for the Pediatric Cancer Society and Alzheimer’s Association, performed on floats during holiday parades, and was invited to play at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Donovan was selected as a School of Rock All Star in the summer of 2024 and toured the Northeast, performing at venues in New York City, Boston and Philadelphia while raising awareness for teen suicide.
