Bio

Roger Wang, 16, is an 11th grade student at Lambert High School in Suwanee, Georgia.

Roger has been taking classical vocal training since he was 10 years old. He has won multiple awards in various music competitions, including 1st place and a monetary reward from the 2021 Florida Keys International Music Competition, Judges Distinction Awards and 1st place in the 2020 American Protégé International Vocal Competition, 2nd place winner in 2019 Hal Leonard Vocal Competition. He was selected by Broadway celebrity Corey Cott as one of the grand prize winners in 2020 CYT national Talent Thon competition and earned the opportunity for virtual meet with Director Jon Chu. Roger is the official National Anthem singer for professional sport teams, including the Atlanta Gladiators (Hockey), and the Gwinnett Stripers (Baseball).

Roger is a major member in Lambert High School Chamber Chorus - he is proud to be a participant in the Georgia All-State Chorus for 4 straight years, earning perfect scores for two years. Last year, he also auditioned for the Georgia All-State Reading Chorus and got selected; he is the first and only student from his high school who has ever passed the all-state reading chorus audition. Roger won 1st place in the Georgia High School Association Literary Competition for boys' solo, becoming the first student in his school history to win this category. Last summer, he passed the 6-month-long audition process for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program, majoring in vocal - only 0.25% of applying students were selected.

Roger loves the stage and musical theater. He has been a leading role or main cast of many shows, including The Lion King Jr., Matilda Jr., Amelie, Beauty and Beast Jr., Into the Woods Jr., Guys and Dolls, The Secret Garden, the Fantasticks, and the Mystery of Edwin Droods. Last year, he played Jesse Tuck in Tuck Everlasting, and the show won first place at the state-level Georgia High School Association One-Act Play Competition.

Roger maintains a good academic record. He takes the most advanced courses that the high school can offer, maintains 4.16 GPA, straight 5 on AP exams, and 1520 SAT.

Roger’s other hobby is ice hockey, his travel team brought home 3 Southern Youth Travel Hockey League championships in the past season. He also plays piano and trumpet, was selected to Georgia All State Bands in 2019 before he switch his focus to singing and theatre.
